There are some fine knives shown here. Mike got me thinking about my leather knives. They don't hold a candle to Mikes but they all work great and you could shave with any of them except for the green one which is somewhat dull and used only to thin down thread for hand stitching. What I still need or make is a good one for skiving. I have a design in mind and will make it one of these days to try out. The X-acto is used to cut out leather projects using a great technique I learned about in recent years.

I've always wanted an ulu, kinda like that half moon one for food chopping but I never got around to getting one.

Marshal, nice set of cutlery there sir. I agree with Mick, the sheaths are mighty nice too. The only thing I do well is mow the lawn, rake leaves, vacuum the house and wash dishes. Maybe I can learn a new craft before I croak. Maybe I should take up stitching and learn to make an apron for myself  :nocomment:?

Thanks. Those keep the blades from getting dulled when kicking around on the work bench. The belt sheath I made for the general purpose knife when I worked in the saddle shop so I wouldn't have to go looking for the thing when I needed it. If I could only have one knife for leather working, that would be the one I'd choose.

It's always fun to try something new. When I was in my 20's, sewing was a mystery to me so I ran down to the yardage shop, bought a pattern, some material & whatnot and made a pair of pants for myself with my mother's sewing machine just to see if I could do it. They came out good. I wore them until they got ragged. Never sewed anything else but I knew I could do it if I wanted to.

You have some awesome knives Marshal. Even more awesome because I believe you made most of them yourself.

You should get one Hawg. I have one that my mom bought for me on her trip to Alaska. That thing comes in very handy for chopping in the kitchen.

Dadley knife from a Green River blade, black walnut handle slabs from a fallen branch. Sheath from a worn-out boot.

I recently got these modern made spear points. I was intending to make a neck/patch knife out of one but they're too big and bulky. I can't find any original points that look exactly like them. They still look cool tho. I've got a couple of pieces of elk antler that will make good handles. Whacha think? Any other ideas on what to do with them?
