Great day shooting
« on: July 22, 2017, 10:34:27 AM »
Hi, yesterday my son-in-law and I shot my Howell gated cylinder 1851 at steel targets. We went though 300rds of 38 Special and the revolver didn't have a hiccup. My son-in-law learned to do the Cowboy load and had a great time shooting. He even whacked the steel at 50yds.  Black Bart didn't have a bit of white paint left on him after the shoot. After the shoot we went back in the house, drank some Scotch and a number beers. In life it doesn't get any better.  )l_ )l_

Regards,
Richard

Sounds like the perfect day to me too!
My biggest concern is that when I pass away, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

Yep, shoot first. Then liquor up.  A hundred fifty .38 rounds apiece in that Navy is a good bit of shooting for everyone.  You guys obviously know just how to have fun.

Sounds like you guys had some fun. I'm guessing here but once you get use to it, 300 rds can go fast if you don't have someone to share it with.

Hi, G Dog, I can shoot any day I choose so I let my son-in-law do most of the shooting. We also did cigars with the Scotch.  (7& (7& (7&

I agree with most everything you did, except for the cigars! Not my thing.

Hi mazo, IMO you don't know how to live. A good Scotch and cigar is God's gift to mankind.

To be honest, I feel somewhat guilty bringing cigars into my son-in-law's life. A good cigar lets me bond to my son-in-law. My father smoked cigars and every time I smoke a cigar I remember him. Of course it's not for everyone, but smoking a cigar, not inhaling, is a gift.
Do you know what you are missing?  (7& (7& (7&

Brings to mind what you and son-in-law do together, is similar to my son and I.
Only the other way round, he comes over from Colorado several times a year,
brought a bottle of Crown Royal and cigars he calls Torpedos.
Evenings, sit out on the front porch and quietly talk . Just the two of us.
Lifes good. L@.
