Pedersoli Screw Barrel pistol

Hi, the screw barrel metal parts were reassembled. The original bluing on the barrel was left alone. The schematic that comes with this pistol is terrible, one must guess at parts position. I had the sear in backwards where I couldn't install the hammer. It took a while to figure the correct positioning of the sear. A couple of photos were taken while the grip tung oil dries.

Hi, the Pedersoli Derringer Liegi screw barrel kit has been completed. Close inspection shows that I probably could have used more tung oil coats on the grips. Maybe something to do in the future. The pistol is very small, I took a photo of it next to the Leech & Rigdon (same size as the 1851 Navy) for comparison.

All that's left to do is shoot the screw barrel this weekend.

Hi Kry, I emailed Pedersoli and got a helpful email reply in a day. They told me that I should be able to get screw barrel parts from VTI Gun Parts. While VTI doesn't have the screw barrel parts listed on line, I should be able to call in a parts order.

Hi, I emailed VTI about buying Pedersoli Derringer Liegi parts. In less than a day VTI sent me a parts list and schematic of the pistol on .pdf. I ordered all the springs and some other backup parts for the Liegi by email to VTI. In less than an hour VTI emailed me that all but one part were in stock. The in stock parts were shipped in less than an hour after my email order.

Got to love VTI Gun Parts.

I have found VTI to be a very good source for parts and for prompt shipping.

I like them better than Taylor's for parts, and they are always courteous on the phone or email. The parts they have are not cheap, but they generally have what one needs.

I have like new Pietta 1851 Navy grip assembly for sale @$65 + ship and VTI has new like parts for $109 + ship.

From them I got a part round/part octagonal barrel and a smooth non-engraved cylinder for my Pietta L&R creation as Pietta does not market one, and a few years ago purchased a Pietta brass backstrap without the shoulder stock bottom divot to be historically correct. Those folks are very knowledgeable and I really appreciate that very much.

Hi shot the Pedersoli Derringer Liegi a number of times yesterday. Used maximum amount of Black Mz the pistol chamber could hold and 0.454" balls. With no sights one needs to be within ten feet to hit a target one foot across. The power of the ball is pathetic, it didn't even disturb the paint on my steel targets. I could throw balls harder than the Liegi shoots them. It's possible that using 4f Swiss or T7 would do better, but bottom line, the .44 Liegi is pretty useless a firearm.

In the parts diagram I see that Pedersoli offers a .36 caliber barrel for this pistol that is longer than the .44 that came with the pistol. Maybe that would be a path to better performance?
