Unexpected problem
« on: March 31, 2020, 12:44:22 PM »
While cleaning and organizing shelves in the basement, I got an open box down from a high shelf. I found that mice had found my project tasty. That's what I get for neglecting to complete things in a timely way. This project was nearly done, just waiting for me to try to replace the barrel-to-frame locating pins and maybe blue the metal parts.

This is what the protected grip looks like. Oh well, I'll do what I can to try to fix the chewed grip, it will definitely add character!

And yeah, there were some droppings in the box along with a bit of urine.

You had better start feeding those critters better. I hear that they like D-Con.

I do run a trap line in the basement, just not in that area.

Hello Mazo,

I've had luck by clamping a piece of tooth pick on the end of the old style mouse traps,
then covering it with peanut butter. They grab & it's all over.

Yeah, we do have a good mouser kitty. Oh, and she thinks the mice we catch in the traps are her own little delicatessen, if we don't get to the trap first. Most of the time that happens in the middle of the night. And that is also why won't use D-Con.

Mazo,

I'm not sure if the use of Peanut Butter would be considered baiting?
Some might say, "It's not very sporting."

I read you loud and clear! I waged war on the little buggers in my basement a couple years ago. I appear to have the upper hand.
