I like the Smith because it's so sleek. It seems like a handy little carbine. They're hard to find now, and getting expensive too.

Yep, 50 caliber bullet. It is a sleek gun, but surprisingly heavy for it's size. Barrel, receiver, lock, barrel band, trigger guard, butt-plate, sling swivels are all steel. I just weighed it....7 pounds, 8 ounces.

I changed out the musket cap nipple for a #11 nipple. Works great!

I have had one for 12 yrs. now and it will break your finger draftee very few times of breaking it open. do you or any buddy find that to be the same with yours?

Yes, the breech locking latch is a bit stiff. Mine has gotten better with use...and lube.
