I posted a while back about buying both the gun, 1873 Remington Rolling Block (Navy Arms Pedersoli repro) and period correct 18" 3x Brass Scope (Tasco repro), finally got these (2) married up and hoping they shoot as pretty as they look. Had the gunsmith make up (2) custom mounting blocks out of brass and installed a new firing pin and extractor at the same time.

Very nice,   l like that scope.   I could use one on my Sharps rifle.

That's cool. How much eye relief do you have with the scope?

Hi Hawg, I think I can keep the eye relief between 3 and 4 inches. But first, given the height of the scope, I have to modify a raised cheek pad for the stock for easier and consistent eye alignment. I'm hoping to work on that this weekend using a lace up leather stock cover and a couple of neoprene inserts.

Thanks Dave, Mike and Cap'n for the compliments - I'm very pleased with the outcome. Forecast says it's supposed to warm up in a week or so and I hope to get out to the range with it.

It looks good but I would have to mount the scope a little further forward.

Very nice! Pedersoli makes some very nice and accurate guns. Now load it up with black and make smoke!

I bought one of those scopes several years ago. Like so many of my anticipated projects, this one is still not mounted on any rifle. I would think the mounts could be made a bit lower?

Hi Mazo, the 'smith actually called me about that before he started milling the blocks and I told him my only requirement was easy access to the hammer and rolling block action - the heights are as follows - FRONT: 0.533" , REAR: 0.633 . He did say now that he's done one set it would be easier to create additional ones if I wanted them.

Yesterday, the sun was shining and wasn't too cold -4degC so I decided to hit the range.

This was the first outing with the Rolling Block and the 4x brass scope combo, she scored a nice 3" group at 50 yards but the offset block for the rear mount will need be worked on.

Also the first time for the Sharps with the vernier sight, got on the paper but needs more work. This is the second time I've had the Highwall out with the HiLux Malcolm 6x scope, 5 out of 5 on the 6" gong at 100 yards.

That is a fantastic collection of rifles. I'd be happy with any one of them.

Thanks for the pictures!
