Shot of the Day
« on: February 17, 2021, 08:04:30 PM »
Since our Header Banner Photo contest went over so well, we'd like to see you members throw out some photos of your own on this thread, where every member can be a winner, every day! We know you have it in you, as evidenced by some of the great shots in the contest. These pix can be well-staged, with accessories and such, or just a simple pic of your favorite gun of the day on your kitchen table. So flash those pictures and get to posting!

I'll start; nothing to write home about, but I shot and entered this'n for the banner contest. Good thing, as when I shot it there was maybe an inch of snow covering at the time. Later that evening it began snowing in earnest and we now have well over two feet on the ground!  *6'

This is my ASM Second Dragoon that has been given the "Outlaw Mule" treatment by Mike at Goon's Gun Works. The action on this is unreal!

This is a great idea Capt. And since we made it easier to see attachments, there's no excuse not to post random pics.

Here's one I took a few days ago. It's my converted, shortened 1860, with my handmade faux jigged grips. This is my favorite cartridge gun.

Pietta 1851 Navy .36 AZ/1990 4-screw CFS small tail grip.

I got this revolver about a year or so ago for a "nice" price, and I found out why. It had been treated like some forlorn animals: shot a bunch, put up wet, and basically forgotten. It took one full day to scrub out all of the years-old detritus from the frame, cylinder, and the brass parts, and then polish the brass. The wood also needed a bit of work. Some Bubba had attempted to modify the bolt and hand, and through sheer luck I found a contemporary bolt and hand on Ebay. (The new Pietta CNC parts are different.)

Anyway, it is now a shooter. Pietta has not made an 1851 Navy .36 4-screw CFS revolver since going to CNC ~2002. The funny part about that is that Pietta does make an 1861 Navy .36 4-screw CFS revolver, but the backstrap butt is not cut for the J-hook.

Go figure.

Regards,

Jim

You definitely made a silk purse from a sow's ear with that one Jim. Nice work!

Nice rescue, Jim. And it looks none the worse for wear! I'd say you gave that one a whole new lease on life! Thanks for your contribution!

Another great picture Len!

If this were a flintlock forum, I'd be voting for your picture again!

Those are beautiful Em!!

Em posted elsewhere, his little Remington snubbie. It made me think of my little snub. We shot it for the first time last weekend. It's actually a good little shooter. I need to make a holster for this one.
