Looking forward to seeing what type of belt you decide on.

You'll see soon. The belt is done and I'm waiting for good lighting.

Not having a makers mark at all makes them look cheap. I'd rather have it showing but that's just me.

Thank you, Mick. I'll try for a good photo in the next few days.

Hawg, you make a good point about it making a holster look cheap. Putting a makers stamp on it shows you are proud to say you made it.

It would be hard to ever mistake that gear for ‘cheep’.  If a person couldn’t see the quality in those holsters, visible MM or not, their opinion may not matter.

OK, the fog is in this morning, just thick enough to flatten the light. I took a quick shot before everything got wet. You see little texturing lines in the belt because I worked it both ways to limber it up.

Thanks, Hawg.

I have now corrected my pattern with a few minor changes. Next time I make one it will more accurately represent the example in the photo.

That is a nice piece of work Marshal.

Never shy away from using your maker mark.  It's a Craftsman's tradition and you have a right to mark your work and it's your decision where to place it.

Thank you, Mike. Your take on the maker stamp is a good one. To a collector, the maker's mark is a way of identifying what an item is and when & where it was made.

If it was me and somebody didn't want my mark on it I'd refuse the job.

What if they wanted the MM on the reverse side?  Would you still refuse the job?

Personally, I like a makers mark butI have never cared to wear a billboard.  Some are obtrusive and belong on the reverse.

My tailor puts his label on the inside of the coat not on the sleeve.  I don’t even have to ask.
