Howdy all.

I'm looking into picking up a 1860 to go with my '58s.

I figured this would be the place to get the lowdown on which ones are better than others.... Before I go a buyin'

I have been happily blazing away on two Pietta 1860’s for the past eighteen and nearly nineteen years (date codes BH, BI respectively).  No problems with them whatever.  I love them Army Sixties.  You will too.  How not?

I recommend Pietta.  Uberti's are good too but cost a little more and I am not sure ya get more gun for the money, in fact I doubt it.  Get with Cabelas and hook up.

Welcome to the forum Rev.  I have a pair of 1860's also, they are good looking and good shooters too.  You'll enjoy it.

First off, Welcome to the forum.

Secondly, Any steel framed 1860 Army will satisfy your requirements.  I've got 2nd Gens, Piettas & Ubertis.  after a little tuning, they all work just fine.

Welcome!
Piettas have come a long, long way and are reasonably priced.
Ubertis are (IMHO) a better gun, but they've had their QC issues as of late...supposedly fixed now, according to some.
I have a pair of Armi San Paolos (well, actually one is at Goon's Gun Works right now) that I like just fine.

Welcome to the Camp!

Pull up a chair, grab some coffee and get comfortable.  When your cups gets empty, get another cup, nobody will be waiting on you here.  When you feel like it, join or start a conversation.  We like pictures, so post what you got.

I like Uberti products and have used them since the 60s.  Also have some ASM and Pietta revolvers.  I look at the Italian C&B revovles as kit guns.  No matter who makes them, they ALL need a little bit of tuning to make them work.  Some need more work than others but they all need work.

Here's a hint Reverend, keep an eye on some of the pards here in the forum and you will always have subject matter for your sermons!

Welcome.
Piettas are fine.  I just got a new 1860 from Cabela's at a reasonable price, but keep a look for Cabela's sales to make your purchase.

Thanks for the welcomes and the information as well. I have a Pietta '58 from Cabella's ( the laser engraved version), first time I took it out, I threw 72 rounds down range with no issues, so I'm happy to hear the open tops are good as well!

And photos? But of course!

Thanks again

I couldn't agree more! I have owned 2nd Gen Colt, Signature Series, Uberti and Pietta versions of the 1860 Colt and they all shot well but needed fine tuning to function perfectly.

Welcome Reverend Bow!
My biggest concern is that when I pass away, my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.
