Looking at another Pietta 1851
« on: March 01, 2022, 04:08:37 AM »
This is at the LGS right across the road.
The guy got it in and immediately called me.
Nib but a bit tarnished here and there. The cylinder has copper in the scene. Makes it really stand out.
Not sure if I like that or not. Appears to have never been fired but date code says 2016.
Asking $300.00  that’s more than I want to give but I like to support this store. We live way out in the country and to have this store is a true blessing.
Just curious what everyone is seeing new ones sell for  recently.
I can also trade in if I chose.

AR, Hey there. Good to see you. If Midway had any Pietta .36 cal 1851's they range from$280 to $375 depending on how fancy. The $280 Pietta is a basic 1851 .36 cal steel frame blued 7.5 " barrel. Explain more about the cylinder if you can recall. Also, do you know if it's a steel frame?

The price is not out of line with today's economy and scarcity. If it helps support a LGS I say go for it. Double good on ya!

If you decide that that gun is for you, walk in and flash $250 cash and see what happens.  Tell them that is all your wife (mother, girlfriend, psychiatrist) will let you spend.

Supporting a LGS is fine but don't be a welfare society.  That price is no bargain.

I couldn't remember seeing a 51 navy with copper in the engraving so I set out to find one. I found this Pietta .44 mag 1851 that sold for 405.00 in December. Shipping was only 50.00. :hurry:  https://www.gunbroker.com/item/917820608

It's a brass frame .44 listed as a .44 mag and actually sold for over 400.00. (7+"

Good work Hawg.  We were wondering what the 'copper' looked like.  At least the one AR found is .36 which helps.  Is it brass or steel?  Schnieder & Glassic's will do, in a lean year.

GORGEOUS .44 Mag, no less.  Stunning and bold or is that brave and stunning? I forget, sometimes.

Tartted-up .44 brass guns can be ever so gay.

Twenty points.  Gotta have a Navy.  The etching stuff will likely rub out with/after some use.  It's reputed to be less than durable.

I wondered???
I don’t care for it my self.
I have a 44 brasser  and really want to get a 36 steel frame I will try to sell if I get this. I also have a very nice 1861 Army.
I can’t get pics to post. Always too big. Iphone

AR. I too use an iPhone. I usually forward to my email then select a smaller size when it asks. Then post from my email. Extra step to go through but it works. Hope that helps.
