I don't know what thread the arbor is, never had one out yet. I'm sure it would be metric, look here. https://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-threaded-inserts/=158qpuj
We've used a smaller one & drilled & tapped to what we need.
The thread size of the arbor is M8 X 1.25 (mm). From the McM/C catalog, I see three inserts if that internal thread. Hmmm...

After relooking at the situation, an insert will not work. There is not enough room for one, the hand would not clear it. I'm not sure a helicoil would work either, after you cut it up for the setscrew would it remain in place? Probably the only fix would be to use an epoxy & cement it in, but I would think that it would crack & be loose again in no time.

An insert MIGHT work...if you grind it to fit the hand opening and anchor with a set screw. I agree; epoxy or even structural adhesive will probably shoot loose after a short period of time.

BTW, I was able to find a source for a new steel frame (Taylor's):

There is a seller on GunBroker that sells new frames for a lot less than either VTI or Taylor's.

Here's a listing for 2 brass frames for $68.00 buy now.

Click on 'Seller's other items' to see the whole list of what he sells.  His inventory changes all the time.  In the past he's had US Marshal engraved in the white frames for very reasonable price.

Hi, IMO if an arbor is shot loose, just use the revolver as a hanger. Of course you could buy steel inserts and retap the arbor, but is it worth the cost and effort? I don't think so.

BTW, the cheapest BP revolver being sold goes for $150 with free shipping from Cabelas.

I think I purchased my steel frame on http://www.gunauction.com/buy/14289333.
I know there is a Brass Frame there now which has gone a couple times without a $20 bid.

I don't see a cut watertable on either frame, and the bottom frame has case colors. How does one do that on a brasser?

I don't see a rebate either. It could be the bottom one is just highly polished and reflecting light.
